A few Paris Highlights...

I've loved Paris ever since my first visit in 2011 and even though Australia is so far from France I've been lucky enough to recently return. While the hustle and bustle of typical tourist attractions is all well and good, I found on my second visit an urge to roam around the slightly quieter areas and do as the Parisians do. Here are a few of my favourite places in Paris, that you may or may not have heard of yet.

// Amorino Gelato Au Naturale Gelateria

Authentic traditional Italian gelato right in the heart of Paris. Amorino have a couple of stores around the place but the one I fell in love with was in Rue Saint Louis.  Their objective is to craft incredibly high quality ice-cream with only natural ingredients and this is evident when you taste their stuff. Don't expect a whole heap of gelato slapped carelessly into a cone either, it is meticulously shaped to resemble a flower right in front of your eyes, again showcasing the time and quality that this small franchise is all about.  With so many flavours to choose from, Pistachio and Amaretto were absolute winners in my books. 

// Rue Du Commerce

Still quite popular, but in comparison to the Avenue des Champs Elysées or Rue de Passy, Rue de Commerce is one of the lesser known shopping strips in Paris, located just around the corner from the iconic Eiffel Tower. Stumble along Rue de Commerce and fall in love with the charming patisseries, cafés, lesser known boutiques, chocolatiers and popular high street brands.  With everything in the one street, it is popular amount locals, boasting Mac, Sephora, Zara, H&M, Kookaï and a large range of boutiques with one of a kind finds. 

// Rue des Martyrs

While this street is often popular and bustling, I've found when talking to friends and family that have been to Paris that they'd either never heard of it or simply hadn't bothered to venture down this gorgeous street, seemingly unknown to the majority of first time tourists.  Full of food shops, bars and cafés, Rue des Martyrs is an absolute heaven for foodies like myself.  With tiny stores that have been in operation under the same family for over a century, this small street is full of authentic Paris charm not to be missed.

Paris is a stunning city, and it's easy to get caught in the typical touristy areas. But make the most of Paris, venture of the beaten track into slightly less crowded areas and you never know what you might find. Happy exploring!!
